on motivation

As a mom, sometimes it can be easy to lose motivation. You're tired, overworked, feeling blah, grumpy, PMS, your kid is always screaming, your husband wont get off the couch (only me!?), whatever. Even if you're not a mom it can be hard. You get lost in the downward spiral of negative thinking and then you get on social media and you feel even worse. Awesome. So I've compiled a list of a few of my tips for staying motivated even when you feel like complete shit, and the last thing you want to do is work.

Take a break

This might seem counterintuitive, but I'm not talking about like a week long break, I mean like go for a walk in nature for an hour, do some painting, get out of the house. Just do something that you enjoy. And don't watch tv or spend this break on social media. That is not a break! You need to clear your mind, change your vibration and get out of your head and into the real world, okay? You will feel better after. Sometimes when I'm feeling crappy, all I need to do is pick up my paint brush and get to creating. Sometimes I really need a walk. So stop thinking about what you need to do, and do what you want to do for once, and you will come back to your work with refreshed enthusiasm.

Remember why you do it

Why did you start your business, or why do you do your job, what made you become a mom, a wife? What brought you to this point in your life?? Make a list, or simply sit down and think about why. Remember the good things, and forget the tired. Because the motivation is in there, you just have to grab a hold of it and don't let go. Sometimes I don't want to be creative and I don't feel like working, but I try to remember why it is that I love what I do - and sometimes just getting to it will bring the spark to remind me why I love it.

Have a smoothie

Yup. That's my tip. I'm talking about a healthy smoothie people, like with a little spinach, some coconut oil, banana, maybe a little probiotic powder and cacao nibs!? YUM!! Having something yummy and healthy, and taking a little break to recharge is always a good idea. Fill your smoothies with healthy ingredients that include fats and antioxidants like avocados and blueberries to fuel your brain and your body. I'm a big fan of cacao nibs (in everything actually!) because they give me an energy boost when I'm feeling blah, since I don't drink coffee or eat sugar. Just remember, if your body feels good, you're more likely to feel motivated to work, so get your smoothie and get to work.

These are only a few of my tips - there are probably way more things that you could do, but this is just how I like to recharge. You could also listen to some feel-good music, dance up a storm, go to yoga, the list goes on. Just don't lost that fire! You can do it, girl.
